Streamline financial analysis and planning with Workday for Google Sheets
Update (October 13, 2026): We have updated this post to reflect changes in the naming of and functionality available within the Workday for Google Sheets add-on. Availability and setup remain unchanged.
Workday for Google Sheets is a new add-on available in the Google Workspace Marketplace that connects Adaptive from Workday (formerly known as Workday Adaptive Planning) directly to Google Sheets. This integration eliminates the need for manual CSV downloads and static spreadsheet exports, allowing financial analysts, business leaders, and cross-functional contributors to build dynamic reports, perform ad-hoc variance analysis, and submit plan updates while maintaining complete data integrity–all without leaving Google Sheets. Shorten planning cycles and surface strategic insights faster with key features including:
- Dynamic ad-hoc reporting: Pull live Adaptive accounts, dimensions, levels, versions, and time periods into Google Sheets, with the flexibility to rearrange elements across rows, columns, and filters and refresh reports at any time to reflect the latest model updates.
- Reusable report templates and rolling dates: Configure relative time periods and report dates so monthly and quarterly reporting packs roll forward automatically, or use Duplicate Report in Report Actions to copy an existing report’s layout, filters, and expand/collapse states into a new tab in the same workbook.
- Interactive hierarchy exploration and cell drill-down: Expand and collapse account, level, and dimension hierarchies directly on the sheet, focus your view with Keep Only and Remove Only member filters, and use Explore Cell to trace numbers back to underlying Adaptive details.
- Governed two-way data writeback: Make budget edits, driver uploads, and "what-if" forecast adjustments directly at valid leaf-level intersections using standard Google Sheets formulas, then submit changes back to Adaptive. Editable cells are clearly marked, existing Adaptive access rules and writeback permissions are enforced, and every submitted change is logged in the Audit Trail.
