Adjust video clip playback speed directly in Google Vids

We are introducing the ability to adjust the playback speed of individual video clips directly within Google Vids. This update gives creators precise control over pacing and scene timing, streamlining video editing so teams can optimize storytelling, improve audience engagement, and deliver polished messages without relying on third-party editing software.

Whether presenting a fast-paced software walkthrough or slowing down technical steps, video speed controls make scene fine-tuning seamless.

Key capabilities include:

• Speed up footage (up to 2x): Condense long demonstrations, trim visual downtime, and keep audience attention sharp.
• Slow down playback (down to 0.25x): Emphasize intricate visual moments, highlight key user interface steps, and make technical tutorials easier to follow.

Getting started

• Admins: There is no admin control for this feature.
• End users: There is no end user setting for this feature. Visit the Help Center to learn more.

Rollout pace

• Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains: Gradual rollout (up to 15 days for feature visibility) starting on October 16, 2026

Availability

• Available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts
