In Google Hangouts on desktop and Android, we’re making some time-saving improvements to the way you navigate chats. When you enter a conversation where there has been a lot of activity, you’ll see a "Jump to Last Read" button. This will take you to the last unread message in your chat denoted by # new messages indicator. Additionally, the "# new messages" button has been redesigned to match the new UI.
