Video tile pairing is now available on Google Meet mobile to improve accessibility for users and language interpreters

Following our original feature announcement for the web, we are excited to expand video tile pairing in Google Meet to both iOS and Android mobile devices. This update allows users to pair their video tile with another meeting participant, ensuring both tiles are displayed side-by-side for other attendees.

Tile pairing is particularly valuable for accessibility, giving participants who are Deaf or hard of hearing (HoH) the capability to pair their video tile with a sign language interpreter. By empowering users to keep both tiles visible in the same frame, regardless of who is speaking, video calls can be a more inclusive experience for all participants.

Whether you are co-presenting a session or requiring interpretation services, this mobile expansion ensures that important visual connections remain intact, even when you are on the go. Once paired, meeting participants will see both video tiles highlighted and positioned together in the meeting layout, with live captions displayed and attributed to both speakers.
